Road Bicycles (racing cycles) are typically designed to be ridden on tarmac roads at high speed for this reason they are made from light weight materials such as carbon, titanium and aluminum to reduce the effort required for a rider to cycle up hills or mountains. Most Road bikes have multiple gears with a cassette of sprockets at the back wheel and often with a two or three ring sprocket at the drive chain. multi gear bikes are far more flexible depending on the incline of the road being ridden.
