The name Eddie Merckx is the most revered of all in cycling world having been the greatest cyclist of his or probably any generation. Merckx has put his life long passion for cycling into his excellent and increasing range of Merckx Road Bicycles. Merckx produce both Carbon Road Bikes and Aluminium Road Bikes, which are all aimed at the high end of road cycles. Merckx bikes incorporate cutting edge technology and design and have a philosophy to produce supreme racing bikes that offer a great deal of comfort without compromising stiffness and weight saving.
Merckx also offer a precision fitting for any potential customers to match the road frame perfectly to the individual cyclists characteristics and physiology.  Core to the Merckx cycle philosophy is to produce bikes, which are safe, with this in mind frames, and materials are tested intensively before going into full-scale production. Road Bicycles (racing cycles) are typically designed to be ridden on tarmac roads at high speed for this reason they are made from light weight materials such as carbon, titanium and aluminum to reduce the effort required for a rider to cycle up hills or mountains. Most Road bikes have multiple gears with a cassette of sprockets at the back wheel and often with a two or three ring sprocket at the drive chain. multi gear bikes are far more flexible depending on the incline of the road being ridden. Road cycles are generally fitted with thin wheels and tyres to reduce drag from the road and allow faster riding. Drop down handle bars are preferred for aerodynamic advantages when descending or sprinting. Road Bicyles differ greatly in price with the top end models such as those used by professional cyclist in pro cycle events such as the Tour de France and Giro d' Italia running into thousands. Reasonable and entry level Road bikes can be found at much more affordable prices in many Bike stores and online.
